Star Wars Eclipse: New Concept Art Surfaces

Star Wars Eclipse resurfaces through leaked concept art, but the long-delayed Quantic Dream project remains without a release date or major updates.

New concept art from Star Wars Eclipse has surfaced online, giving fans a fresh glimpse at the long-missing Quantic Dream project. The images, briefly posted on an artist’s online portfolio before being pulled, show character art featuring several classic Star Wars races, including a Gungan and a Rodian.

Most of the artwork is labeled by species, but two pieces — titled Travis and Jotraaz Kammzzzek — feature unique names. This suggests they could be more prominent characters in the final game, whenever it eventually sees release.

Star Wars Eclipse was first announced during The Game Awards in 2021. Set during the High Republic era, the game is described as the first video game to explore an uncharted region of the Outer Rim during the Jedi’s golden age. According to Quantic Dream, the story will heavily emphasize player choice, with decisions that can dramatically alter the course of events.

The announcement trailer showed off lush visuals, including glimpses of Yoda in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, the forests of Kashyyyk, space battles, ground armies preparing for war, and a lightsaber duel. It painted a broad, cinematic picture of the setting but left gameplay details vague.

Since then, information has been scarce. In 2022, a few story rumours emerged, suggesting that the game might feature a more action-focused combat system, possibly with open-world and multiplayer elements — a departure from Quantic Dream’s usual heavily narrative-driven formula seen in Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human.

Officially, Quantic Dream stated that Eclipse would build on their “expertise in deeply branching narratives,” but rumours of a pivot toward action gameplay have continued. The project’s progress has been further complicated by the 2022 acquisition of Quantic Dream by NetEase Games, raising questions about timelines and priorities.

As of now, Star Wars Eclipse has no confirmed release date and no announced platforms, though PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC are the most likely candidates. The game’s initial buzz has cooled, with little to no updates since its reveal — outside of leaks like the recent concept art.

Whether Star Wars Eclipse stays true to Quantic Dream’s narrative roots or becomes something closer to a traditional Star Wars action game remains to be seen. Until more official news arrives, the project remains one of the most mysterious in the Star Wars gaming line-up.
